frankie muniz career politics

After 'Malcolm in the Middle' ended in 2006, star Frankie Muniz showed Hollywood who's boss by putting acting on hold to pursue racecar driving, and drumming in a rock band.

Now, the onetime teen star has cast himself in an entirely new role, tweeting: "I'm going to be a politician. I'm running for public office. I will be announcing soon."
Muniz, 25, resides in Scottsdale, Ariz. -- about 40 miles from Maricopa, where Bristol Palin recently bought a home (sparking rumors that she, too, might dabble in local politics). But nobody knows yet how Muniz will kick off his new career.

The Washington Post points out that, with Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' ongoing treatment following an assassination attempt in January, there's uncertainty in Arizona about a Senate seat the Democrat once considered pursuing. Her Congressional district may also come up for grabs, should she decline to file for re-election. Still, Muniz's claim to deliver details "soon" might not materialize all that quickly, since the New Jersey native's hashtag #Muniz2016 hints at a five-year plan.

Keeping cool in debates might be a natural fit for Muniz, who succintly put Shia LaBeouf in his place last year. And the 'Malcolm' star had a major lesson in damage control earlier this year, after he called 911 during a fight with his girlfriend, who told cops Muniz was suicidal during the altercation.
