The Beckhams’s New Baby, Jaycee Dugard Breaks Silence, and Social Media Reacts To Royals in California

Yesterday David Beckham told 12 million of his closest Facebook fans that his wife, Victoria, gave birth to their fourth child (and first daughter), Harper Seven Beckham. He wrote, "I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx." Beckham's post received more than 10,000 comments on Facebook, mostly wishing the couple congrats. "Harper Seven" trended on Twitter thanks to the thousands of tweets about the birth, from fans and celebrity friends alike. Victoria Beckham's fellow Spice Girl Mel B. (aka Scary Spice), who is expecting her third child, tweeted, "congrats!!! Yipeee another spice baby is born, damn it wish it was me this AM cos I feel like I'm about to POP!" Baby Spice Emma Bunton wrote, "Big kiss to @victoriabeckham can't wait to meet your gorgeous little girl!" But many tweets about the Beckham baby have mostly made fun of the name. Many link the middle name to David's jersey number when he played soccer in England. Others said the name was just another example of odd celebrity baby names. Seven joins the ranks of Jermaine Jackson's son Jermajesty, Mariah Carey's son Morocco, and of course Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter, Apple. Believe it or not, Harper Seven Beckham is not even the world's first celebrity Seven. In 1997, singer Erykah Badu named her son Seven. In addition to poking fun at the name, tweeters also wrote about the Seinfeld episode in which George talks about wanting to name his child Seven.

Jaycee Dugard, the woman who was kidnapped in California when she was 11 and held captive for 18 years, finally broke her silence Sunday in an exclusive interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer. Dugard revealed heart-wrenching details about her kidnappers and harrowing experiences, including giving birth by herself in a backyard to two daughters. She said the births helped her survive because she was no longer alone. Sawyer, who just got a Twitter account last week, live-tweeted during the broadcast. Celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, and Roseanne Barr also tweeted about the interview, praising Dugard for her bravery. Oprah tweeted, "Don't we love Jaycee's resilience? She is remarkable. Much to teach us all. Have pre-ordered the book." Dugard's memoir, "A Stolen Life," goes on sale this week.

And lastly, the duke and duchess of Cambridge just finished their whirlwind tour of California, and social media captured it all. Using the hashtag #RoyalTour on Twitter, both the press and adoring fans were able to follow and update the royals' every move. The couple attended a new media summit, a charity polo match, and the BAFTA "Brits to Watch" gala in Los Angeles. At the event, celebrities like singer/actress Kristin Chenoweth and funnyman Jonah Hill couldn't contain their excitement on Twitter about meeting the royal couple. Catherine Middleton's gown by Alexander McQueen made a big splash on the red carpet, launching "McQueen" to Twitter's trending list. You might remember McQueen was also the label behind Middleton's wedding gown. But the visit wasn't all glitz and glamour. Sunday the royal couple toured Skid Row, a homeless center in downtown L.A. It is one of the largest concentrations of homeless people in the country. Click here for pictures of William and Catherine's tour of the U.S. and Canada.
