Chris Rock courtesy of wikipedia.orgReferred to by the New York Times as “… probably the funniest and smartest comedian working today” (Source: http://www.chrisrock.com/), Chris Rock has made a huge name for himself as a stand-up comedian and actor. His first national exposure came with his three-year sketch comedy stint on Saturday Night Live (1990-1993). After SNL, Rock moved on to the big screen in an attempt to promote a career in film. However, due to the scarcity of acting jobs, he left Hollywood and turned instead to stand-up comedy. His jokes typically center around race relations in the United States. As a result of his success as a stand-up comedian, Rock managed to land larger roles in films, and has appeared in Lethal Weapon 4, Dogma, and Madagascar to name a few.

Ms Nash, who was left permanently blind, and lost her nose, eyes and lips in the attack, received a ground-breaking face transplant in May.
Speaking of her incredible recovery in an interview for the Today show, she said that for the first time since the horrific ordeal she can smell, eat solid food and feel sensation on her face. And remarkably, her new features are beginning to show.
'I’m beginning to feel my jaw and chin. And I can move my mouth and smile. I still feel weak. But little by little I’m getting stronger,' she said off air. Her first meal after the surgery, she said, was eggs and cream cheese.
In May, a team of more than 30 surgeons, nurses and anaesthetists at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, led by Dr Bohdan Pomanhac, painstakingly rebuilt her face. They kept the date secret to protect Ms Nash's privacy.

Jackie O believed Johnson killed JFK
Jackie Onassis believed that Lyndon B Johnson and a cabal of Texas tycoons were involved in the assassination of her husband John F Kennedy, ‘explosive’ recordings are set to reveal.
The secret tapes will show that the former first lady felt that her husband’s successor was at the heart of the plot to murder him.
She became convinced that the then vice president, along with businessmen in the South, had orchestrated the Dallas shooting, with gunman Lee Harvey Oswald – long claimed to have been a lone assassin – merely part of a much larger conspiracy.
Texas-born Mr Johnson, who served as the state’s governor and senator, completed Mr Kennedy’s term and went on to be elected president in his own right.
The tapes were recorded with leading historian Arthur Schlesinger Jnr within months of the assassination on November 22, 1963, and had been sealed in a vault at the Kennedy Library in Boston.
The then Mrs Kennedy, who went on to marry Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis, had ordered that they should not be released until 50 years after her death, with some reports suggesting she feared that her revelations might make her family targets for revenge.
She died 17 years ago from cancer aged 64 and now her daughter, Caroline Kennedy, has agreed to release the recordings early.

"Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together," President Woodrow Wilson once said in a speech. Recognizing the importance of friendship, Congress declared in 1935 that the first Sunday of August would be celebrated as National Friendship Day.
In honor of the loved ones who stick by us through good times and bad, here are five fun facts about friendship:
Previously, we brought you the story of some Deadspin readers who bought gifts for Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari off their wedding registry. Then we told you that the Bears QB dumped Cavallari. Here comes the fallout, courtesy of Crate & Barrel.
Tipster Taylor, who calls himself a "die-hard Packer fan," says he bought the putative Cutlers the cheese-related gifts they desired: A cheese slate and a hard cheese knife, whatever that might be. (We slice our Velveeta with our fingers, thank you). And he attached a note to his gift.
He writes,
Perfect. I had visions of the future Mr. & Mrs. Cutler gleefully tearing open my gift. For the rest of their happily wedded lives, whenever they consumed cheese, whether with famous friends, or quietly alone in the dark watching reruns of The Hills or California Gold, it would be at the hands of a Packer fan.
It can sometimes be hard to get excited about a movie based on a TV show, especially when that movie is really part of the show’s continuity — too often they turn out to be less movies and more extra-long episodes of the show. I’m glad to report that that is not at all the case for Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, which debuts tonight at 8pm ET/PT.
The TV show Phineas and Ferb is often fairly epic — I mean, they’ve built a rollercoaster around their hometown, constructed and used a portal to Mars, discovered the Lake Nose Monster, and given a monkey a shower. But this movie goes beyond that. Here’s the plot setup, without giving away too much:
The boys are testing out their new platypult, which is very likely exactly what you’d think it’d be, when they accidentally end up in Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s lab. Doofenshmirtz is having trouble getting his current “inator” — a device to open a cross-dimensional portal — to work, and the boys, who of course don’t know that he’s evil, help him out. They succeed, of course, and they all end up in an alternate dimension whose tri-state area is ruled by a truly evil, and competent, Doofenshmirtz . The alternate Dr. D decides he’d like to take over our heroes’ tri-state area, too, so of course they have to work together to stop him.

Ryan was born in London, Ontario, on November 12, 1980 to parents Thomas and Donna Gosling. His father's job as a travelling salesman for a paper mill meant the family - which included older sister, Mandi - moved frequently, until the siblings' parents called quits on the relationship and divorced.
"I had a difficult time," admits Ryan of the family's peripatetic lifestyle, which involved "many schools" and "many teachers". With her son frequently bullied and struggling with reading and writing, Ryan's mother enrolled him in a special education class before taking him out of the education system completely in favour of home schooling.
Yesterday Emily wrote an article looking at the countries with the highest projected life expectancy for 2011 as estimated by the CIA Fact Book. Guess what? USA didn’t even make the top 20 as the life expectancy is only 78.3. However Canada got a very good placing at number 12 on the list with a life expectancy of 81.38, not bad at all! Still it has a lot to live up to the number two spot which went to Macau at 84.41 and Monaco way way out in front with an average of 89.73, wow!
So what gives the Canadians an extra 3 years on their neighbours? The USA is supposed to be the greatest country in the world but of course it is vast in population and wealth with some of the richest people in the world and some of the poorest. Canada has historically been pretty good when it comes to it’s economy but of course it has a hardcore group of poor many of whom are native, of course that is a a whole other can of worms and I would expect they have a much lower life expectancy when singled out.

Do 50-year-old women really want the sex life they had at age 25?
by umer | 3:09 PM in Do 50-year-old women really want the sex life they had at age 25? |
Can you have hot sex forever? No problem—just stick to a careful diet, regular Pilates and the miracles of modern medicine. At least that's the message we're getting from the recent burst of celebrity cougar mania and new advertising campaigns from pharmaceutical companies promising that hormones will restore our aging bodies to their former glory. But is it reasonable for women over 50 to expect the same level of sexual satisfaction and drive as a 25-year-old? And is this what women really want?
On one level, just asking these questions represents progress. In Victorian times, for example, doctors routinely warned midlife women to abstain because intercourse past menopause could be fatal. The exact mechanism for this predicted demise wasn't always clear, but physicians of that era did believe it was dangerous for older women to even think about sexual activity because erotic thoughts might, among other evils, evoke regrets for lost allure and those regrets could trigger disease. Medical literature and popular culture of the time (mostly written by men, of course) often portrayed women over 50 as borderline insane. The supposed reason: they were no longer appealing to the opposite sex.
But now our role models are women like the experienced stars of "Sex and the City," who are set to film yet another sequel featuring numerous scenes of Kim Cattrall (52), Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis (both 44) and Cynthia Nixon (43) enjoying their time beneath the sheets. In the fall, a 45-year-old Courtney Cox will star in ABC's "Cougar Town" flashing a body that any 20-year-old would envy. And then there are those photos of newly svelte Valerie Bertinelli (49) flaunting her toned abs in a bikini. We admire these women for getting out there (especially Bertinelli, who looks incredible).

Judge steps down from Casey Anthony probation case
by umer | 9:26 AM in Judge steps down from Casey Anthony probation case |
A judge who ordered Casey Anthony back to Florida to serve probation for check fraud stepped down from that case Wednesday and Anthony's lawyer warned she would be in danger if she had to return from an undisclosed location.
Circuit Judge Stan Strickland recused himself from the case two days after signing an order that Anthony had to report for a one-year-probation term. Strickland did not say why he was removing himself, but Anthony's defense lawyers had accused him of prejudice after he gave television interviews about Anthony's acquittal last month in her trial on charges of murdering her child.
Judge Belvin Perry, who presided over Anthony's murder trial, was taking over the probation case.
Defense attorney Jose Baez told NBC's Today show Wednesday he hoped that Anthony will not have to return to Orlando this week and that his team was seeking an immediate hearing for their motions to quash the judge's probation order.
